Project Manager - PregVax

The Fundació Clinic also tries to contribute to the development and improvement of the conditions of life of the most disadvantaged populations through collaboration in programs and activities of investigation, training, consultancies, technical assistance and project development in the area of the international health and cooperation.
Fundació Clinic is looking for a Project Manager to implement a multi-centre study focusing on Plasmodium vivax malaria in pregnancy. Activities carried out in the project aim to describe the epidemiological and clinical features of vivax malaria in pregnancy, and determine if there are pregnancy-specific P. vivax immune responses and characterize genotypically and phenotypically the parasites of the placenta. Principal components of the project are to carry out a cohort observational study in pregnant women in five P. vivax endemic countries. The Project Manager will support the Principal Investigator and will be responsible for the daily functioning and quality implementation of the project.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure timely and quality implementation of the project and achievement of the established project objectives.
- Oversee the budget including identification of gaps and accurate and appropriate allocation and reporting
Coordinate communication with project partners and external collaborators.
- Supervise the Project Assistant
- Other duties as assigned
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
1. Program Implementation and Monitoring
- Ensure that all project activities are implemented according to project objectives and timelines.
- Work with PI to ensure definition of objectives and the setting of priorities
- Provide technical support and capacity building to partner sites during field visits and through follow-up supervision
- Responsible for setting agenda (with PI) for team meetings, ensuring follow-up of key actions, and writing reports.
- Delegate specific tasks as appropriate
- Monitor the project progress and ensure timely decision making
2. Coordination and Representation
- Ensure timely reporting internally and to counterparts.
- Monitor and sustain motivation, conflict management, collaboration and communication among project partners.
- Serve as the focal point for internal and external communication.
- Ensure appropriate dissemination of information needed to carry out the project to partners and external counterparts.
- Ensure implementation and follow-up of agreed plans and actions.
- Monitor contractual agreements.
- Recruitment, training and supervision of new staff (as applicable)
- Organize and maintain copies of all appropriate project documentation
- Preparation and dissemination of meeting agendas, minutes and reports
- Maintenance of Project website
3. Budget
- Oversee budget management and procurement
- Assist in the monitoring of contracts and budgets
- Identify critical issues, needs and problems in resources / budget
- Assure appropriate and timely allocation of resources necessary to achieve objectives
- Prepare contingency plans/decision trees and reports
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- University degree in medicine, public health, biology, biomedical science or related field.
- At least 3 years of project management experience in health or related field
- Knowledge of basic epidemiology and infectious disease research
- Experience working in malaria endemic countries highly desirable
- Excellent management, project planning, and organizational skills.
- Experience in training and supervising staff.
- Knowledge of written and spoken English is required; knowledge of Spanish, Catalan, or Portuguese a strong plus
- Excellent computer skills: MS Word, Excel, Outlook software or equivalent
- Ability to effectively work both as a team member and independently
- Experience working international environments is preferred
Compensation for this position will be based on the applicant’s experience and qualifications.
