Training

According to its mission, and on the basis of its research experience focusing on the generation and transmission of knowledge, CRESIB’s objective is to be a reference institution and facilitator in the field of international health research training.

The Centre develops training programmes on its own and in collaboration with some of its partner and collaborator institutions, with four fundamental objectives:

  1. To promote and spread awareness and knowledge of global health problems.
  2. To train highly qualified researchers in specific areas related to international health mainly through master, doctoral and continuing education programmes; with special emphasis on personnel from low and middle income countries.
  3. To improve the training of health professionals, both in developed countries to manage imported diseases, and in low and middle-income countries to address endemic health problems.
  4. To train scientists and technicians.

The centre is currently carrying out the following programmes for international health research training:

Doctoral programmes

CRESIB leads a line of research in International Health within the Doctoral Programme of Medicine of the Faculty of Medicine at the Universitat de Barcelona.

The centre participates in Training Fellowship Programmes which aim to provide scientific training to young graduates from Mozambique (in collaboration with the Centro de Investigação em Saúde de Manhiça – Fundaçao Manhiça) and Morocco (in collaboration with the Centre Hôpitalier Universitaire Ibn Sina - Université Mohamed V and the Institut National d’Administration Sanitaire – Ministère de la Santé du Maroc) so they can embark on research of interest for their own country. These programmes include postgraduate, master and/or doctoral studies.

OTHER TRAINING

CRESIB also organizes short courses and continuous training programmes, seminars, workshops, conferences and similar activities on its own and in collaboration with other institutions.

CRESIB, together with the Faculty of Medicine of the Universitat de Barcelona, is member of the tropEd network for education and training in the field of international health (www.tropEd.org), of the Eurolife International Health Alliance (EIHA) (www.eurolifeuniversities.org), and most recently of the European Academic Global Health Alliance (EAGHA).
